LAURA MARS
I am driven to paint, working with devout passion.
When the brush is inactive, meditation vibration and visualisation
occupy my thoughts, in as much I am constantly absorbed.
I find rhythmic vibrational compositions and unusual ways to break up space.
I develop the paintings spontaneously usually working with
the versatile medium of acrylic.
I treat the canvas like a story with all the drama of a good narrative,
establishing the plot with juicy opaque abstraction.
I focus on structures and plan a repetition and rhythm until I bring it to
a crescendo of dazzling colour and crisp shapes.
The use of oil commands a deep respect for opulent glazes
and buttery thick strokes which result in sumptously rich textures
implying generosity and layers that unify.
What painting is ultimately about for me is learning versatile
approaches that increase my artistic vocabulary and add
another dimension of expression.
I am really excited about my work, recently I have pulled it into alignment
as co-creator with my spirit and produced some powerful images.
